AI Drum Beat Generator: Build a Groove in Seconds

A neural model gives you four two-bar drum patterns to start from. Nudge any hit on the grid, set the tempo, loop it while you play, and download the MIDI. Nothing leaves your browser.

How it works

From Blank Page to Groove in 3 Steps

1

Generate a set of beats

Hit Generate and the model returns four two-bar patterns. Turn up Looseness for busier, more surprising grooves, or down for tighter, simpler ones.

2

Shape it on the grid

Pick the pattern closest to what you want, then click cells to add or remove hits. Set the tempo and press Play to loop it while you audition changes.

3

Export and use it

Download the loop as a MIDI file and drop it into your DAW to swap in your own drum kit, or keep it as a scratch beat to write over.

Who uses it

Real Ways People Use a Beat Generator

Five situations where a quick starting groove keeps the momentum going.

Writing a song without a drummer

The situation: You have chords and a melody but everything feels stiff played to a click.

What they do: Generate a groove at your tempo, tweak the kick and snare to fit the feel, and loop it while you write.

The result: The song gets its pocket early instead of waiting for a session drummer.

Breaking a beat block

The situation: You have been staring at an empty drum lane for twenty minutes.

What they do: Generate a few patterns, keep the one with an interesting hi-hat, and rebuild the kick and snare your way.

The result: You are past the blank page and back to producing.

Practising an instrument

The situation: You want to practise a riff or a solo over a real feel, not a metronome.

What they do: Make a simple loop at a comfortable tempo and leave it running while you play.

The result: Practice sessions feel like playing music, so you stick with them longer.

Scoring a short video

The situation: A reel or podcast intro needs a bit of rhythm under it and you do not want a copyright headache.

What they do: Generate a loop, export the MIDI, and render it with any drum sounds you own.

The result: You get a clean, original beat with no licensing to worry about.

Teaching rhythm and arrangement

The situation: You want students to hear how moving one hit changes a groove.

What they do: Generate a pattern in class and edit it live on the grid while it loops.

The result: Students hear cause and effect instead of just reading about it.

FAQ

Beat Generator Questions

Does this run on a server?

No. The model loads into your browser and generates everything locally. Nothing you make is uploaded.

What does "Looseness" do?

It is the model's sampling temperature. Lower values give tighter, more predictable patterns; higher values give busier, more adventurous ones. Around the middle is a good default.

How long are the patterns?

Two bars of 4/4 at sixteenth-note resolution — 32 steps. Loop it and it repeats seamlessly.

Can I edit what the model gives me?

Yes. Every cell on the grid is a toggle. Add ghost notes, simplify a fill, move the backbeat — the loop updates as you go.

What is in the MIDI file?

A single drum track on channel 10 using General MIDI drum notes (kick 36, snare 38, hats 42/46, and so on), so it maps straight onto any drum instrument.

Why does the first beat take a moment?

The first time you generate, the browser downloads the model (about 2MB) and caches it. After that, new beats appear almost instantly.

Can I change the drum sounds?

The built-in preview kit is synthesised for quick auditioning. For final sounds, export the MIDI and play it through your own kit or sample library in a DAW.

Does it work offline once loaded?

After the model is cached, generation works without a connection. A hard refresh that clears the cache will re-download it.

Will it run on my phone?

Yes, in a modern mobile browser. Playback and editing are light; only the one-time model download needs a connection.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account and no limit on how many beats you generate or export.
